Wanderlust Dust Beach Grass Carved Beach Stone Pendant
This fun piece is a combo of techniques I thought about teaching for a tutorial but decided I might go a different direction. I carved an Oregon beach stone by hand with diamond coated drill bits to mimic the waving and swaying grasses that line the sandy beach edges. The Oregon coast almost always is windy and even the trees grow sideways in parts because of the wind. The fused background is accented with blades of beach grass.
While the stone is not considered precious, it is precious nonetheless. The shape, texture and color were hand picked because it spoke to me. I hand carved details into the surface slowly and carefully to not chip or slip. It takes some patience and a steady hand.
Hand fabricated in sterling silver of solid construction. Hangs from an 18" chain in 1.5mm cable style. The pendant measures 1.75" long by 1.5" wide.
One of a kind and original in design and carving.
